What are some things I should keep in mind if I am going to list my home as FSBO?

The first thing you should realize is that FSBO transactions take alot of time and effort. Sometimes selling your own home can be like a full-time job.

Make sure you do lots of research before you attempt to sell your own home. Lots of people go into FSBo transactions blind and list their houses for prices that are way too low. Start reading the real estate section of your local paper to see what houses in your area are going for and make sure you get an appraisal done before you list your home. Also, make sure you are completely clear about Closing procedures. This is where alot of FSBO deals go sour.

I would suggest hiring a real estate lawyer to help you with closing.

Marketing and advertising are really important. You need to make sure you have a sign on the lawn and an ad in the paper. YOu should also schedule some Open Houses so interested buyers can come and check your house out.
