With the boom of real estate internet sale sites, I was wondering are there more people selling their properties/home independent of an agent? How successful are independent sellers?

There are so many internet sites out there devoted to advertising properties out there. This makes it easier for people to market and sell their homes and/or properties without an agent. Although to be successful at doing it, you need to possess thorough knowledge of that property and zoning restrictions to answer any questions/concerns from potential buyers.

Some independant sellers are extremely successful, but it all comes down to how much time a person can put into selling their home. Obviously there is the opportunity to save money but selling independing means covering all the bases- marketing, advertising, holding open houses, negotiating, closing. It's alot of work.

Selling independantly can be a great way to save some money on commission. You just need to make sure you do all of the necessary research so you don't run into legal trouble or end up short-changing yourself.

Usually the success an independant seller has is directly influenced by the market at the time they are selling. If it's a seller's market, most are able to do well.
