When I went to settlement I was told that the annual Property taxes were $1600. This is what was also written in the closing documents. A year later the County Tax Authority told me this was a mistake. It should have been $6000 per year, so now I owe $4400 in back taxes and my monthly mortgage was increased $500 per month to cover next years taxes. Do I have any recourse? I spoke to the tax authority and he said the people who gathered the info for closing made a mistake. And I do owe the money.
