I've been struggling to pay of my credit cards and tried to get a home equity loan to consolidate them. The problem was at the time I didn't have enough equity on the house to pay the $20,000 of credit card debt. Now my home has gone up over $50,000 in value but I can't get the loan because my credit dropped under 500 due to not being able to keep up with the credit card payments. Yes!! I am having this problem. I am living in the house I want to buy right now. My parents own this house, and are willing to gift me the equity in it for the down payment. My middle FICO score (I think) is a 470, and I want to have this house put in my name. My parents currently have an 80/20 loan with 2 payments totalling $1000.
