we placed the house on the market after we refied and the agent was not able to sell. a friend refered us to a couple who came over and wanted the house, we took only a $1,000 deposit & signed a contract and escrow started, we were 1 month behind on the mortgage. the $1,000 didn't get paid the way we agreed. they broke it down in 2 separate payments. Now the fiance is no longer in the picture and he is trying to amend the contract and prolong escrow 2 more weeks. now we are 2 months late and in default. I fear this is some sort of set up. can and how could we break this contract? and what's the best step to take to stop the foclosure?
